    This issue of Review of Applied Urban Research features Norfolk Study Has Application for Other Cities Concerned With Residential Land Development. Norfolk is Northeast Nebraska\u27s regional trade, education, and health services center. At the junction of two U.S. and two Nebraska highways, the City is a prime location for marketing, manufacturing, and wholesale activities. Norfolk lies between farm land to the east and the Sandhills cattle country to the west. Metropolitan areas nearby include Sioux City, Iowa, 75 miles to the northeast; Omaha, 115 miles southeast; and Lincoln, 124 miles south. Transportation· facilities include six truck lines, three bus lines, and four flights daily from the local airport.     In 1990, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Co=erce created a study group to examine public elementary and secondary education in Nebraska. The study group was composed of representatives of the business co=unity, educators, and members of the Unicameral. Five work sessions were held to listen to experts discuss the approaches being used by other states to improve education, to discuss the applicability of such approaches to our state, and to identify a set of activities that would assure that pupils throughout Nebraska would be able to compete successfully with other young people in this country and around the world

    This issue of Review of Applied Urban Research features Mid-Continent City Crime Rates: A Multivariate Analysis, by Ralph H. Todd. Preliminary crime data (1975) provided the basis for analysis of variations in major crime among cities of the MidContinent Region. The Uniform Crime Reports measure seven Crime Index Offenses: murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft. Remaining criminal offenses were not considered in this study. Crime rates per 100,000 population were compiled using the FBI Uniform Crime Reports and current population estimates (Table 1 )
